We gave him a shot, and we just don’t like Li Jinglong.In this first part of our two-episode discussion of Legend of Exorcism Vol. 3, we focused on the main couple, Hongjun and Li Jinglong. In this volume, Hongjun uncovers truths about his past, including a forgotten history with Li Jinglong and the revelation of his involvement in the murder of his parents. Meanwhile, Li Jinglong becomes increasingly determined to keep Hongjun close and decides to act on his previously repressed feelings for him. Ultimately, he makes a very public confession of his feelings, solidifying the romantic nature of their relationship. However, we are not thrilled by this development. As we point out, Fei Tian Ye Xiang deliberately positions Hongjun and Li Jinglong in stark contrast to the side couple, Lu Xu and Mergen, through intentional parallels. By juxtaposing these couples, Lu Xu and Mergen come across as the more romantic pair, highlighting the more troubling and unromantic aspects of Li Jinglong's behavior and his romantic plot with Hongjun. In the next episode, we will further discuss Lu Xu, Mergen, and the new developments in their relationship.
